The Alhambra is open again for visitors

Alhambra Granada Open

The Alhambra of Granada is open again since the 1st of December after closure in November the 8th due to a wave of coronavirus infections. This is the second time that the Alhambra has closed its doors to visitors. The first time the Alhambra closed was last March with the declaration of the First State of Alarm due to the COVID-19 crisis. After that, the Alhambra remained closed for three months until it reopened June 17th.

Capacity has been restricted to 65% of the total, which represents a maximum of 4,206 visitors per day. In the first hours after opening, only a few people from Granada were able to enjoy the monument almost for themselves. An opportunity that will rarely be repeated.

The usual visiting schedule now will be from 8:00 to 18:00 and the night visits have been suspended, among other reasons, due to the curfew.

Group visits will be limited to a maximum of ten people including the guide.

When visiting the monument one must adhere to the current corona rules in force. These can be checked in the COVID-19 section of the Alhambra patronato site and include:

  • All areas that customers touch are frequently cleaned
  • Customers must keep distance in vehicles
  • The number of visitors is limited to reduce crowds
  • Traveler requirements
  • Customers must bring their own headphones for guided visits
  • Customers are required to bring and wear masks
  • Customers will get a mandatory temperature check

All Alhambra tickets now need to be bought online as the ticket office is closed. Using an audioguide is a safe and covid-friendly way of visiting the monument while adhering to distancing rules.
